Letter # 2

Hoy Familia!
I have a bit more time to write you this time and I am going to try to tell you as much as I can. I am going to respond to Mom, Dad, and Sarah´s emails all at once so that it is easier. So the language is coming along great! Elder Barker and I taught the entire first lesson in portuguese to new brazilian missionaries yesterday. I am not going to lie, it was very difficult. Other members of our district were trying to memorize phrases and stuff and we were told that we could not use notes (we found out later that we could, our teacher just used that as a scare tactic). Even when we found out that we could use notes, Elder Barker and I decided to go ahead and give it a shot without notes. We both did it. It was awesome. I can pray, bare testimony, and give the first lesson in portuguese and I have only been here for 2 weeks. Tomorrow actually is the beginning of our third.
Sarah, thank you for your letter. I was the second to last person to recieve a letter in my district. Dont worry family, I am not trying to put the guilt trip on you. I was fine. I knew that you guys werent going to forget me.
Mom, when I got to Dallas I was definately not the first missionary there. Just before we got on the plane we counted around thirty missionaries. It was great. Our flight got delayed like 4 times and we had a long day. Both days kind of blended together into one really long day. The district leader is given keys to the classroom and to the mailbox and has to go to leadership meetings and other meetings that involve trying to make life better at the CTM. I do keep my room clean. I am kind of unorganized but I do pick up after myself. taking pictures is harder than I thought it would be. We are only allowed to take pictures on P-days and I am not allowed to bring my camera with me to the temple so I cannot take picture of it. It rains alot here. as a matter a fact, it floods sometimes. Our district is great, I have been focusing on getting us to have the spirit with us in everything we do. One companionship jokes around to much and the other is too serious. I am going to be singing the high tenor part to Brightly Beams our fathers mercy in english and maybe partly in portuguese. I can go to the choir practices if I want to. It is not an official choir. People can go one day learn a song and sing it at the fireside that night. I do plan on going a few times.
I found out that I will be leaving the CTM on October 23 and heading into the field. Pretty crazy.
Dad, Guarana is awesome and the fruit here is amazing. I cant wait to get the true taste of it out in the field, food here may be brazilian but it is cafeteria food none the less. I have not finished the book of mormon yet because I started over. Its harder when it is in portuguese! One thing that I forgot to tell you about is sacrament meeting. Each branch has about 50 people in it. They pick a topic for each district and everyone prepares a ten minute talk on it. Our first sunday we each prepared a talk. At the beginning of sacrament meeting they announce who is speaking. Anyway our very first sacrament meeting they start listing who they would like to give the talks for the day. They picked me. It was only my second day here. Luckly I work hard and had a talk prepared. By the time it was my turn to speak, everyone had gone over. I had to turn my ten minute talk into a two minute talk. Anyway i ended up doing great! I have to get going, we only have a couple hours to hit the town and I need to grab some things.

Eu se que Jesus Cristo vive e Joseph Smith foi um profeta. Eu grato por o evangelho e minha familia. Eu se que a igreja é verdadeiro. Em o nome de Jesus Cristo amen.

Love you all,
Elder Bullough
