One Month in the Mission Field

Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 5:51pm
Okay I am really frustrated. I just wrote the longest message ever and it exited out on me. I don't know how much time I have now.

Its always great to hear from you guys. Recieving any letter is very encouraging. I am happy to hear from you guys. Mom, I would like to take pictures in front of the temple but we have been asked not to. There aren't senior companions while in the CTM. So once in the field things should be different, I should be able to get a picture in front of the Porto Alegre Temple.

I would like to let anyone who plans on being a missionary know that there are two kinds of missionaries that you should NOT be. One is the kind of missionary who is not obedient and he always is breaking rules. They feel that the little rules are not important and that they do not need to obey them, they cause trouble for their companions and for those in their district they are not 100% obedient. The other type is the missionary who feels that he has to fix everyone's problems. They are always getting into other missionaries business and it ends up causing more problems. They like to tell on other missionaries. You should be the best missionary you can be. Focus on yourself and make sure that you are following all of the rules. As for the disobedient missionaries, there is only one way to solve this, through example. If you do what you are supposed to, others will see it.

This week has been the most spiritual week yet for me. We had a district testimony where I saw the tears of my fellow missionaries. I also watched the Joseph smith movie. Whenever I think things are rough I think about what he went through.

I am going to be singing in church this sunday with Elder Bowerman, Elder Demille and Elder Barker. We are singing Brightly Beams Our Fathers Mercy. One verse will be in portuguese.

I am going to try to write a few thank you letters at a time and send them home to you. I also am planning on sending my memory stick home so you can get some pictures and send it back. I do not know if you can e-mail pictures or not but you can always print them and mail them.

I love you all
Elder James Bullough
